About this tool
A PDF does not store paragraphs. It stores fragments of text at exact positions on a page, which is why copying from a PDF often gives you broken lines and stray hyphens. This tool reads those fragments and rebuilds the structure: fragments on the same line are joined, lines are gathered into paragraphs using their spacing, words split by a hyphen at a line end are mended, and larger text becomes a Word heading you can restyle in one click.
What comes across is the text and its structure, not the exact look. Images are left out, and tables and multi-column pages are turned into ordinary paragraphs, so a complex brochure will need some tidying. For letters, reports, articles, contracts and most everyday documents, the result is ready to edit.
Scanned documents are different: a scan is a picture of a page, with no text inside it to extract. Turning that into text needs optical character recognition (OCR), which this tool does not do. It tells you when a PDF or a page has no real text rather than handing you an empty file.
Frequently asked questions
Will the Word document look exactly like the PDF?
No, a Word document converted from a PDF will not look exactly like it — no converter gets this perfectly. You get the text with its paragraphs and headings in a clean, editable document. Images are not included, and tables or columns become ordinary paragraphs. The page size matches the original.
Why is my document empty, or missing some pages?
A Word document converted from a PDF comes out empty or missing pages when those PDF pages are images — usually scans or photos of paper — with no text in them to extract. The tool lists which pages had no text. Converting them needs OCR, which this tool does not do.
Can I open the result in Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice?
Yes, a Word file made by Klonum’s PDF to Word tool opens in Google Docs, Apple Pages and LibreOffice, because it is a standard .docx file. Google Docs opens it after you upload it to Drive, Pages opens it directly, and LibreOffice Writer handles it like any Word file.
Is my PDF uploaded to convert it?
No, Klonum does not upload your PDF to convert it to Word: the text is read from the PDF and the Word file is written by your browser, on your own device. Neither the PDF nor its text is sent anywhere, which matters for contracts, statements and anything personal.
