Split PDF
Extract the pages you need into a new PDF, or split one document into several files. Pages are copied exactly, so text stays selectable, and the whole job happens on your device.
- 1Add a PDF
- 2Choose pages or ranges
- 3Download smaller PDFs
Your files are processed on this device and never uploaded.
How to use Split PDF
- Choose a PDF.
- Pick a method: your own page ranges, equal chunks, one file per page, or selected pages gathered into one new PDF.
- Check the list of files that will be created.
- Split and download. Several files arrive together in a ZIP.
About this tool
Splitting copies page objects out of the original into new documents. Nothing is printed, flattened or re-rendered: text stays selectable, vector drawings stay sharp, and images keep their original quality. Each new file contains only its own pages — content from the pages you left out is not hidden inside it.
Custom ranges are the most flexible method. Every comma-separated part becomes its own file, so “1-3, 4-10, 11” produces three PDFs. To gather scattered pages into a single file instead, use “Extract pages into one PDF” and list them the same way.
As with merging, things that belong to the document as a whole rather than to a page — bookmarks, attachments, form field behaviour — are not carried into the new files. Password-protected PDFs are refused with an explanation instead of producing broken output.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a limit on pages or file size?
Klonum’s Split PDF tool has no fixed limit on pages or file size and no daily cap, because your own device does the work. Very large documents are bounded by your browser’s memory; a few hundred megabytes is realistic on a typical laptop.
Will splitting reduce the quality of my PDF?
No, splitting a PDF does not reduce its quality: pages are copied exactly as they are, not converted to images, so text, fonts and pictures are identical to the original. Only the page selection changes.
How do I get every page as its own PDF?
To get every page of a PDF as its own file, choose “One file per page” in Klonum’s Split PDF tool. A 12-page document becomes twelve single-page PDFs, delivered together in a ZIP file named after the original.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly: Klonum’s Split PDF tool refuses encrypted files with a clear message rather than producing a broken result. Open the PDF in a reader, remove the protection, save a copy and split that.
